Mathis is studying Integrated Natural Resource Management at the Humboldt Universität Berlin and previously studied political science and international relations and organisations at Leiden University. He is particularly interested in the management of socio-ecological systems, transdisciplinarity, and social acceptability of environmental measures. As a student assistant Mathis is supporting Silke Stöber in the project NUTRiGREEN.
