Tropical Diversity, Ecology and Land Use - Harmonizing Human Needs and Nature

International DAAD Alumni Workshop

The Workshop „Tropical Diversity, Ecology and Land Use – Harmonizing Human Needs and Nature“, took place from the 18th until the 21st of February 2016 in Berlin, in preparation for the European Conference of Tropical Ecology (23-26 February 2016, Göttingen, Germany).

16 participants, from Nigeria, Venezuela, Mexico, Indonesia, Germany, Kenya, Peru, Ecuador, Cameroon, Madagascar, Bolivia, Colombia, Ghana and Sudan travelled to Berlin in order to take part in this international workshop. The aim of the workshop was to investigate the links between the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and current scientific debates and research questions in tropical ecology, and to examine critically various aspects of the 2030 agenda with a result of a new, practical solution that contributes to implementing the SDGs.

The workshop was offered by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), as part of the alumni special projects, and was run and organized by SLE TRAINING. The costs were mostly covered by DAAD funds, which are provided by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Development and Cooperation (BMZ).
