GTC - Conditions for Participation

General terms and conditions of the Humboldt-Innvation GmbH (organizer) for participation in the advanced training programme SLE TRAINING at the Centre for Rural Development (SLE) of the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin.

1. Coverage

1.1 These general terms and conditions regulate all contract relations between course participants (purchasers) and the organizer within the framework of the advanced training programme SLE TRAINING conducted by SLE. Deviating terms and conditions of the participants are null and void. By submitting an application, the course participant accepts these general terms and conditions.

1.2 The offer is directed exclusively at people of legal age.

1.3 The organizer reserves the right to change or add to these regulations. Possible changes and additions come into effect once they are published on this website.

2. General information on training courses

2.1 The course duration is noted in the respective course programme. Training courses usually take place at the Centre for Rural Development (SLE) of the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, Robert-Koch-Platz 4, 10115 Berlin. Further details are given in the respective course programme.

2.2 Following active participation in the training course you will receive a certificate of attendance.

3. Conclusion of contract, participation requirements

3.1. Registration for participation in the event is only possible via the SLE TRAINING enrolment request form on the website of the Centre for Rural Development (

3.2. The participant submits his/her legally binding offer for conclusion of a contract by completing the ordering process and clicking the “Submit” button. Effective submission of the offer by the participant presupposes that the participant has filled out the required fields in the order form (each marked with "*") and has accepted these GTC.

3.3. The contract for course participation comes into effect once the organizer has confirmed the participant’s application in writing per e-mail.

3.4. The number of participants may be limited or participation only possible “by invitation”. Applications will be considered in the order in which they are received in accordance with Section 3.2. Should participation be impossible due to overcrowding, the participant will be notified immediately and can be added to the waiting list if desired. Should places already booked become available again before the course begins (e.g., due to cancellation by a participant), substitutes will be contacted by e-mail with the offer of a place on the course in the order of receipt of application in accordance with Section 3.2.

3.5 Participation in an event may depend on personal and/or factual requirements. As far as possible, information about the necessary requirements will be provided on the Internet.

4. Prices

4.1. The price stated in the confirmation of registration is the end price and binding on the participant. All course material is included in the price.

4.2. All prices include value added tax where necessary. There are no additional fees, delivery and/or shipping costs, unless stated separately.

4.3 Individual expenses for travel, accommodation and meals or other costs, including insurance and visa fees, are not included in the price and must be paid by the participant.

5. Terms of payment

5.1 Payment is made on account by prepayment. The participant will receive the invoice in writing by e-mail from the organizer as part of the confirmation of registration. The accepted methods of payment are

a) bank transfer to the bank account specified in the invoice or

b) payment via Paypal to the account specified in the invoice in case of payment from outside the European Union.

Fees resulting from the transfer/payment shall be borne by the participant in addition to the participation fee.

5.2. If the participant does not pay within 14 days after receipt of the invoice, the organizer can withdraw from the contract and release the place for substitutes (Section 2.4). If the organizer withdraws from the contract, the participant loses the right to participate in the event.

5.3 All payments must be made in Euro, otherwise an additional currency conversion fee has to be charged.

6. Right of withdrawal for consumers

A consumer is any natural person who concludes a legal transaction for purposes that for the most part cannot be attributed either to their commercial or their self-employed professional activity. The law requires the organizer to provide the following information for consumers:

You have the right to withdraw from this contract within fourteen days without giving reasons. The withdrawal period is fourteen days from the date of conclusion of the contract.

of your decision to withdraw from this contract by means of a clear declaration (e.g., a letter sent by post or e-mail). Although not mandatory, you may use our enclosed sample withdrawal form for this purpose. To comply with the withdrawal period, it is sufficient that you send notice of exercising the right to withdraw prior to expiry of the withdrawal period.

Consequences of withdrawal:

If you withdraw from this contract, we will immediately refund all payments we received from you, at the latest within 14 days from the day we receive notice of your withdrawal from this contract. We will use the same means of payment for this refund as you used for the original transaction, unless expressly agreed otherwise with you. You will not be charged for this refund.

Special note:

If you have requested that services commence during the withdrawal period, you shall pay us an appropriate amount corresponding to the proportion of services already provided by the time you notify us of the exercise of the right of withdrawal in respect of this contract compared to the total scope of the services provided for in the contract.

7. Substitute / Cancellation 

7.1. Substitute

The right to participate can be transferred at any time to a substitute to be appointed in writing to the SLE TRAINING coordination office of the Centre for Rural Development (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.). There will be no additional charge to the participant. It is not possible to transfer the invoice or confirmation of registration, otherwise it is a matter of cancellation.

7.2. Cancellation

Cancellation up to six weeks prior to the event is free of charge. It should be addressed in writing per e-mail to the SLE TRAINING coordinating office at the Centre for Rural Development (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) under observance of the deadline.

After this period a cancellation fee will be charged. This amounts to:

  • 25% of the participation fee up to 4 weeks before the event
  • 40% of the participation fee up to 3 weeks before the event
  • 60% of the participation fee up to 10 days before the event
  • 80% of the participation fee up to 3 days before the event
  • 100% of the participation fee as of 2 days before the event or if the registered participant fails to appear
The participant has the possibility to prove that the organizer has not suffered any damage as a result of the cancellation or that the damage incurred is considerably lower than the respective cancellation fee.

Above-mentioned cancellation fees do not apply if the participant is unable to attend the course due to a visa not granted (in time).

8. Event cancellation and changes

8.1 The event will take place as advertised when the minimum number of participants specified for the offer has been reached. Should an event be cancelled due to insufficient applications, registered participants will usually be informed by e-mail 20 calendar days prior to the planned date. Participation fees already paid will be refunded immediately.

8.2 In the case of cancellation of events by the organizer for organizational reasons or due to force majeure, the participation fee will be refunded in full. Any further liability or compensation claims are invalid, except in the case of intent or gross negligence on our part.

8.3 The organizer reserves the right to make changes or relocations. In exceptional cases, a change of resource person or alteration to the course of the programme is possible, provided the overall character of the course is maintained. Changes of this kind do not entitle course participants to withdraw from the course or reduce the participation fee.

9. Liability

9.1 Liability is limited to intent and gross negligence, with the exception of liability for injury to the life, body or health of the participant or if liability is mandatory for other legal reasons. The aforementioned exclusion of liability also applies to slight breaches of duty by vicarious agents.

9.2 Liability for damages that occur on arrival at or departure from event locations, as well as for losses and accidents is excluded. The organizer does not insure participants.

10. Data protection

10.1. The data collected from participants for an event (e.g., when purchasing tickets or registering for an event) will be stored, modified and transmitted by the organizer solely for the fulfilment of the organizer's own business purposes. This is necessary for contract execution (for example, to check admission to the event). The participant's data will only be passed on to third parties (e.g., SLE) if the organizer commissions other companies and individuals to perform tasks within the scope of handling an assignment.

10.2. According to the Federal Data Protection Act, the participant has the right to free information about his stored data and, if necessary, the right to correction, blocking or deletion of this data.

11. Copyright protection

11.1 Written material for courses is protected by copyright and may not be reproduced or distributed without the written consent of the organizer or the author.

11.2 Audio and video recordings and descriptions of the event or results of the event in whole or in part are not permitted.

12. Final provisions

12.1 In the event that any provision of these General Terms and Conditions is or becomes invalid in whole or in part, the validity of the remaining provisions shall not be affected. The invalid provision in whole or in part shall be replaced by a legally effective provision that comes closest to the economic purpose of the invalid provision.

12.2 Berlin is the area of jurisdiction, as far as permissible.

12.3 To the exclusion of any conflict of laws and the UN sales law, German law applies.
