SLE TRAINING - Training for International Experts and Leaders

We are firmly convinced that sustainable development is a global responsibility. Our role in this global mission is to provide ongoing training for international experts from the South, West, East and North. By bringing these experts together from different cultures, backgrounds and professions, SLE TRAINING programmes support an intercultural and interdisciplinary approach. We view mutual learning and understanding as key components of successful cooperation for sustainable and inclusive development.

Whether management of development projects, sustainable resource management, adaptation to climate change, biodiversity or conflict management, disaster risk management, emergency aid or training trainers, the SLE offers the right training course for experts in international cooperation from around the world.

The topics and content of each course are updated and extended every year, to provide a comprehensive, up-to-date curriculum, some of it in parallel with the postgraduate study programme, some of it in addition. The curriculum is based on the expertise of the SLE and its partners, is focused on the most urgent global development issues, and is oriented towards the practical needs of development organisations and their partners. The training courses employ the SLE's special teaching methods, which have been refined over decades of teaching experience, and involve participatory, problem-based and practical training sessions, in which participants contribute their own knowledge and experience to develop their methods and approaches together.

Participants leave SLE programmes with first-class practical and experience-based training. They learn new tools and methods and also develop important soft skills. The SLE as a part of the Humboldt-Universität represents academic excellence combined with practical, useful methods. There are funds available to co-funding participation in training programmes.

"The trainers were excellent in explaining complicated issues in an easy way. The various examples of the trainers and practical experience of the students were key issues for interesting and productive discussions."
