New courses focusing on workshop design and moderation of events successfully completed

The planning, preparation and moderation of meetings and workshops was the focus of two new SLE TRAINING courses in September:

In the five-day moderation course, the participants dealt intensively with the design of facilitated processes and learnt how to effectively lead a meeting and support teams and groups in a result-oriented way. The training offered the participants the opportunity to work on their facilitation skills and to try out a diversity of methods and techniques. The participants from various African and European countries working worldwide for GIZ, NGOs such as German Agro Action, UN organizations, government agencies or consulting companies, also discussed context-specific intercultural aspects that can have a significant influence on the factual and emotional relationship level of facilitated processes.

The interest in learning how to plan and design interactive workshops united the participants of the three-day course “Designing Participatory Workshops”. As part of their jobs, they regularly work, plan and evaluate projects with partners in the Global South. In the course, participants were able to test and reflect on new methods for different purposes and phases to expand their facilitation toolbox and in order to make workshops even more effective. . They practiced their visualization skills and worked in small interdisciplinary teams on the design of their own workshop concepts.

Both training courses received very positive feedback and will be offered again next year. We wish the participants much success and joy in applying their newly acquired knowledge and skills and in implementing their projects!
