Delegation from Bangladesh visiting SLE

On April the 19th, 15 delegates from Bangladesh visited SLE on their trip under the topic "Understanding Aspects of Climate Mainstreaming and its Horizontal and Vertical Integration". Prof. Dr. Shamsul Alam, Senior Secretary (General Economics Division, Planning Commission) of the Bangladeshian Planning Ministry was part of the delegation. Dr. Ursula Hans, head of the international office of Humboldt Universität, greeted the delegates.

The discussion at SLE offered the possibility to get to know the expertise of SLE with focus on the international offers of SLE TRAINING. The guests who were mostly part of the Planning Ministry and the GIZ-project "Adaptation to Climate Change into the National and Local Development Planning", discussed possible cooperations in the field of Capacity Development with SLE staffers.

Because of its geographical position, Bangladesh ist one of the countries most affected by the effects of climate change. Natural disasters as well as a change of the environment endanger the livelihoods of millions of people. Adapting to climate change in the relevant processes of planning and strategies of development is a crucial task. The Planning Commission of Bangladesh is responsible for ensuring the climate resilient planning of investment projects as well as the cogging of national and local land use and development planning.
