PhD in agricultural economics and ecology with a regional specialisation in Africa. Long experience as researcher at various institutions, including Gesamthochschule Kassel, Berlin Social Science Center, German Development Institute (DIE).

Research and teaching in: Rural and agricultural development, water resource management, adaptation to climate change, evaluation and impact analysis of development policy.
