PhD in agricultural economics with a regional specialisation in Asia. Over 20 years' experience in development and research at various institutions, including Humboldt-Universitaet Berlin, Leibniz Centre for Agricultural Landscape Research (ZALF), CARE International, Helvetas, German Welthungerhilfe, Deutscher Genossenschafts- und Raiffeisenverband (German Cooperative and Raiffeisen Confederation), GIZ, United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), and Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO).

Consultant and trainer in rural development, food security, nutrition-sensitive agriculture, gender, vulnerability analysis, adaptation to climate change, communication, leadership and conflict resolution, participatory research, evaluation of programmes and projects.
