All master’s degree courses at UEM can be attended alongside work. The now eighty students involved come from state, non-state and private institutions, and have already obtained degrees in various disciplines (e.g., biology, economics, history, tourism). The number of men and women taking part in the course is approximately the same. All of them are intent on improving their planning, analytical and conceptional abilities. By the end of the course students:
are familiar with the international discussion on development policies and international agreements on rural development;
are able to analyse processes of social change; are capable of working constructively and solution-oriented;
are able to evaluate the design, planning and implementation of projects and programmes with respect to fulfilment of, for example, MDGs;
are acquainted with a variety of situation analysis methods; are capable of applying the relevant methods and techniques to development management and adapting them to local conditions;
are able to organize and moderate work groups; are able to work in interdisciplinary teams and present results.
Apart from the MSG programme, short courses are offered to external interested parties, e.g., ministerial staff members.
